The Evil Cookie

The Evil Cookie

We all know how dangerous developing a sweet tooth is, especially for those of us who are, admittedly, a tad bit overweight. So what do I see when I get up on Monday morning? Not two but four boxes of Girl Scout cookies laying on the table in the kitchen. Underneath them, hiding innocently behind the shadows of the other two boxes of Samoa cookies, lies my greatest enemy: Thin Mints. The combination of mint and chocolate merge together to create a sensational taste of goodness that quickly addicts its victim, so much that it is almost as powerful as the nicotine addiction in cigarettes. I remember taking my first bite of these delectable little monsters during a very hot summer of my childhood, and I believe it is more than safe to say that I developed an obsession with them shortly afterwards. The habit seemed guiltless at the time, as the consequences of devouring so many of these minty, chocolaty goodies were almost impossible to arise in a very active eight-year old who, for the sheer pleasure of it, devoted her time to running madly about for the entire duration of Recess. However, as it is all too often said, "all good things must come to an end." The innocence of childhood fell away, and in its place, a severe case of cellulite settled in. All I can say, in response to my habit, is: "WHY DOES MY MOM KEEP BUYING THESE THINGS?"
